tonga Places to See on Your Holidays in TongaTonga, located in South Pacific Ocean and has 169 small islands, 73 of which are uninhabited. Out of the friendly islands as some people call it, Tongatapu is recognized as the main island. There are islands encircling the reef and there are some tiny coral islands too.
Some archaeological sites can be found in the east which can be a treat for tourists who enjoy looking through to the past. There are also some sandy beaches in the south which happens to be the main attraction for tourists. There is a lagoon which is surrounded by some coral atolls, small resorts and diving sites.

The Haappai group is made up of about 60 low lying coral atolls but unfortunately the accommodation available is only for three. Camping is a frequent activity here. Tourists can unwind on the beaches and those who are game could engage themselves in snorkeling. Arguably the most attractive place on the friendly islands is the beautiful stretches of Limestone Island and the enchanting waterways that make up the Vavau group.

Neiafu is a tourist center where tourists can enjoy sumptuous meals and drinks at some of its small bars and eateries.

There are some beaches at Kenutu and Mounnu also, but they are considerably lesser attractions here. Sailing is what brings these islands its fame. The islands are also a fantastic place for game fishing and scuba diving.

Some whales are found to swim closely here occasionally and they are a sight to behold by the travelers.
These islands provide a lot of fun activity and breathtaking sceneries. The fun stuff doesn’t end with the beautiful sights and scenes of the island but also the friendliness and amazing hospitality of the people here, are as relaxing as any activity can be.

The people treat their guests really well and give a boisterous welcome to the tourists every time they arrive. A visit to Tonga cannot be wrapped up only with visiting the islands. Tourists visiting Tonga can also try their endurance by going hiking through the Pacific rain forests and the crater lakes. If that’s not enough to get one’s adrenalin pumping, the more daring types can get very near to some of the islands’ volcanoes which are still active. One can also see the wrecked ships, which have been there for decades, which have now become major tourist attractions.

If you are fortunate enough to arrive in Tonga on one of the local people’s feast days you will be offered a drink called kava which is an indigenous drink, famous in Tonga. Exploring under water canyons and seaside cliffs or being a spectator at one of the local rugby matches can also be a part of a tourist’s to-do list. :)
